Therapy is based on empathy and mutual respect that focuses on the client and their needs and desired outcome. Therapists are not there to tell you what to do, or to give you their opinion - they are there to help guide you through understanding all of your options and then helping you to achieve your goals.
Hypnotherapy works directly on the subconscious mind resulting in changes to behaviour, perceptions and emotions occurring, instantly. Hypnotherapy makes the process of change simple, gentle and fast.
Therapists are bound by privacy and confidentiality laws that prevent them sharing your information with others.
The number of sessions each person requires can be very individual depending on the issue and the desired outcome. Generally, hypnotherapy sessions are a one off session or short series of sessions, counselling and psychotherapy may require 4-6 sessions and therapy such as trauma recovery etc may require longer-term support.
The hypnotherapist will give you suggestions based on what you have identified as changes you want to make. Any suggestions you hear that you don't agree with or understand will be automatically rejected by your subconscious.
There are many uses for hypnotherapy and some of the most common are: quit smoking, weight loss, relaxation, enhancing sports performance, overcoming trauma, resolving depression, anxiety and fear, insomnia, enhancing memory and concentration, stress management, pain control, relationship recovery, fears and phobias, bedwetting, nail biting, improving confidence and self esteem.
Medicare and Mental Health Care Plans unfortunately don't recognise counselling, it covers psychological services. These services can be provided by a Clinical psychologist, Registered psychologist, Occupational therapist, Social worker with mental health training.
Counselling is great for helping to manage stressful situations.
Therapy provides long-term healing that can help you cope with, and heal from unwanted thoughts and feelings that may affect your day-to-day functioning.
